Map of Locations in The Watchmaker’s Daughter

The France / Switzerland border runs through Lac Léman, with the north bank in Switzerland and most of the south bank in France. The city of Geneva is surrounded on three sides by occupied France and Annemasse, south of Geneva, is a major escape route into Switzerland. Villeneuve sits at the east end of Lac Léman at the start of the Rhone valley leading south beyond Saint-Maurice and Lavey-les-Bains.

Fort de Dailly is part of the Fortress Saint-Maurice complex, supported by Forts Savartan, Scex and Cindey. This forms the south-western flank of the Swiss National Redoubt, which aimed to secure the central alpine region of Switzerland against an invading force.
